Correspondence Specialist
The Correspondence Specialist role is responsible for reviewing, sorting, and actioning claims correspondence received by clients, along with managing the database of correspondence requests on audits, prepayment requests, and rejections.
Rate of Pay: $17.00/hour
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
The Correspondence Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review and sort claim correspondence from the digital mailbox.
- Route and attach claim correspondence into the billing system, Que.
- Keeping information confidential and understanding, protecting PHI.
- Able to self-manage, prioritize, and organize with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain database of incoming requests
- Requesting medical records from providers and responding to external clients’ requests.
- Meet or exceed department metrics and goals
- Adhere to department policy and procedures on performance management and attendance.
What will you learn in the first 6 months?
- Complete understanding of the Document Management Department team within the organization
- You will understand your role and responsibilities, and which tools assist you in your position.
- During this time, you will set measurable goals for personal development and performance management.
EXPERIENCE
- Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help the department and company
- Demonstrated ability to escalate, rectify, and manage production throughout
- Ability to type at or above 45 WPM (words per minute)
- Familiarity with the 1500 claim forms, and DMEPOS services
- Correctly read and assess medical documents
- Computer experience, and the ability to learn new programs and software, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel background is a necessity
- Motivated and able to work independently within a fast-paced, team environment
- Must be organized and thorough
- Sound judgement and critical thinking
- Must follow policies regarding attendance and punctuality
- Meet all daily productivity and weekly quality goals
